We are not big on class gifts down here in NZ, I have always given something little for Easter and Christmas, Easter eggs, pencil, stickers that type of thing. For birthdays I created this greeting, card, gift all rolled into one and it is so easy to make.
Print and trim and you have a fun greeting for the extra special birthday boy or girl when they walk in the door. They also let everyone else know it’s a very special day for one of their friends. I like to leave them by the classroom door, where children check our morning jobs poster and leave their water bottle etc. I add them to a Tolsby Frame (I love tolsby frames) but you can add them to any frame like these frames or simply fold and make them into a card – if displaying as a card print onto card so they will stand. Type or handwrite the birthday child’s name and class.
You could also handwrite a personal message inside. Do a bunch of them at the start of the year or term and they are ready to go. The birthday boy or girl can keep the frame on their table all day and then at the end of the day slide the card out and it’s ready for home and that’s it birthdays sorted ✅

For more Tolsby Frame ideas you might also like these Alphabet Frames / Ikea Tolsby Frame which I designed to match our “Letter of the Day.” Every morning my children would always ask “What’s the letter of the day?” So I thought I could make this a fun learning moment by letting them guess and learn at the same time. I created these to sit by the entrance where they unpack their water bottles, book bags etc. You could also leave in your Alphabet or Writing Corner. Children simply look at the pictures, guess the letter and flip to see if they were right.
